Response to task 2

“The inspiration comes from an interest in trying to distort our expected ideals of beauty whilst still creating an image that is aesthetically pleasing to the viewer.” – Grant James-Thomas

I found this picture on Instagram hence it does not originate from a well-known photographer.

For me personally a good picture is aesthetic and conveys an emotion or tells a story. Therefore it does not matter how the photographer creates the image but how it  affects the viewer. In this picture all three aspects are fulfilled even though the picture is distorted/out of focus. Moreover the photographer used the technique of distortion to showcase how beauty is not bound to focus/norms. The picture would not be the same in focus and if  so-called “mistakes” enhance what makes a picture a picture they should be a legitimate tool.
